trip overview

On a little higher Mustang, Damodar Kunda is located halfway between Kagbeni and Muktinath. Damodar Himal is a mountain range in the Mustang region of the Nepalese Himalayas. Damodar Kunda is in the Mustang Region of the Himalayas, north of the famed Annapurna range, between Kagbani and Muktinath. For hikers, the Damodar Kund trek in the Upper Mustang section of the Annapurna region is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. At a height of 4,890 meters, Damodar Kunda is east of the Upper Mustang Lo Man Thang tiny lake and north of the shadow-high Himalayas of the Annapurna mountain. The main source of the Gandaki River is Damodar Kunda.

Moreover, Shaligram could be there. Hindu and Buddhist devotees travel to the sacred lake on the Damodar Kunda Trek. Lo-Manthang is home to the local kingdom’s capital. There are a number of the oldest monasteries in Lo-Manthang, famous as the “ancient kingdom.” Which includes Buddha artwork that dates back many years.

As well as the Annapurna Mountains and the Tibetan plateau with Damodar Peak. There are three Kundas—Kamandalu Kunda, Dudh Kunda, and Rakta Kunda—that we collectively refer to as the Damodar Kunda. Priests and locals in Muktinath have the conviction that bathing in Damodar Kund  Trek will wash away all sins. They said that Kuber’s cursed son Nal Kuber, who had been saved by a plunge in the river, had been Kuber’s son.

Damodar is another name for Lord Krishna in Hindu mythology. This lake is mentioned in the Barah Puran, ancient Hindu literature. In Nepal, we have the ideal license-holding guide. The best time of year to visit Damodar Lake is around the full moon in August. This is because each August, thousands of Hindu pilgrims attend a major festival. Damodar Lake is best to visit from April to September. The Damodar Kunda is a frigid, windswept site only 4890 meters above sea level.

According to the Puranas, Kubera’s sons took a bath in Damodar Kund to atone for their crimes. According to the Puranas, Lord Krishna’s mother Yashodha tied him to a tree during the Dwapar era. Lord Krishna used his energy, and the trees fell. One of the trees that Krishna destroyed was Kuber’s son Nal Kuber. Nal Kuber received a curse from Narthi, turning him into a tree. Folklore holds that because he was made fun of, Narthi cursed him to be the tree’s root.

Chakra Kund, Dudh Kund, and Tama Kund are the three reservoirs that makeup Damodar Kund. The most important one among them is Chakra Kund. While Chakra Kund and Dudh Kund are also nearby, Tama Kunda is around 100 meters away. We require specific authorization for that region because the Damodar Kunda Trek is a complete upper Mustang.

Shaligram was first seen in this lake according to the beliefs. Hence, the Trekking Information Management System, the Annapurna Area Permit, and the Upper Mustang Restricted Permit (RAP) (TIMS). Moreover, the excursion requires a licensed guide. The pilgrimage journey begins at Kagbeni and continues to Damodar Kunda Lake, the well-known pilgrimage shrine of Muktinath, before returning to Jomsom and taking a flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
