Nar Phu Trek is a new and remote trekking trail in the Annapurna area. And there are fewer tourist treks and restricted trekking trails in the Annapurna Region of Nepal. But the Branch trek in the Annapurna region is called Nar Phu Trek/ Nar Phu Valley Trek. This trek is leading to the right trekking trail of the main Annapurna circuit trek route. This is diverse from Koto crossing the Marshyangdi River right bank to Nar and Phu valleys in Nepal.

This trek needs a special permit for compulsory with a license holder trekking guide. In the Annapurna area with Nar and Phu gorges to medieval villages. There are impressive chortens, Himlung Himal, Kang Garu, and Ratna Chuli mountains in this valley with Kangla Pass 5,306m. After crossing this pass, you can see many mountains in Annapurna Himalayan with Tilicho Peak too.

After the Nar Phu Valley, we can continue to Manang to Tilicho Lake, Thorong la then trek to Pokhara, if you have time. As per our itinerary, we trek down from Chame because we can catch a Jeep to Besisahar the next day and drive to Kathmandu.

It is a recently opened and remote trekking trail located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is a less touristy and restricted trail compared to others in the same region. This trek is commonly referred to as the Nar Phu Valley Trek, and it branches off from the main Annapurna circuit trek route. The trail runs through Koto and crosses the Marshyangdi River’s right bank to reach the Nar and Phu valleys.

More About Nar Phu Trek

To explore the Nar Phu Trek, a special permit is required. The valley boasts stunning medieval villages, impressive Chortens, and breathtaking views of the Himlung Himal, Kang Garu, and Ratna Chuli mountains. The trek also includes crossing the Kangla Pass, which is located at 5306m and offers stunning views of the Annapurna Himalayas, including Tilicho Peak.

After exploring the Nar Phu valley, trekkers can continue to Manang to visit the Tilicho Lake and Thorong la before heading to Pokhara, if time permits. However, as per the itinerary, the trek proceeds from Chame, where a Jeep can be taken to Besisahar and then driven to Kathmandu, concluding the trip.

Day00

Trekking equipment and Legal documents preparation.

We said enough equipment for trekking in the Himalayas because it is cold in the mountains and need to check all the equipment you have and do not have. We could not get any trekking gear in the mountains. We should prepare all legal documents before departure to Nar Phu Valley Trek from Kathmandu.

Day01

Kathmandu to Besisahar 760m/6-7 hours by bus.

There are two options to drive in Besisahar we can hire a private car or a local bus, it will take roughly 5-6 normal hours to be there.

Day02

Besisahar - Dharapani - Temang to Koto 2,600M/ 7-8 hours drive.

We take a local Jeep to Kato, it takes 7-8 hours of rough driving road on this trip. And if you have time, we can walk from Besisahar to Koto as well and if you can manage your time, we recommend you trek from Besisahar to Koto for a 4-5 day trek.

Day03

Koto - Singenge Dharmasala to Meta 3,560M/ 7-8 hours.

The first day starts our trip to Nar Phu Valley trek walk. We should check our restricted permit at the checkpoint before we enter this area. The trail is very quiet in the jungle 700m gradually up then descent 20m then ascent to Meta, we should take a pack during this day and overnight at a tea house on a normal basis.

Day04

Meta - Kyang to Phu Village 4,080M/ 7-8 hours.

Day fourth 60m down to Jhuman then trail gradually up to Khyang three hours from Meta from where we can see awesome mountains view Pisang Peak, Annapurna II, Gyaji Kang, and Tilche Peak. This das also we should take pack lunch from Meta then the last part of the day walk to Phu village takes around three hours gradually top of the village overnight at the lodge.

Day05

Explore the day around Phu village.

Due to the long walk from Meta, we need to rest for our health and have a hot breakfast in Phu village then visit Tashi Lhakhang Gompa 4,150m from sea level. And look at the unique house and people of Phu village then back to the hotel for lunch after rest time.

Day06

Phu village - Kyang to Naar Phedi 3,490M/ 5-6 hours.

Today trail gradually down 600m to Nar Phedi 3,490m around a 5-6 hours downhill walk.

Day07

Nar Phedi - Yughat to Nar Village 4,110M/ 3-4 hours.

On day seven all the way ascent to Nar Village we will in lunch hour in 3-4 hours then we can relax in the village and hike around the monastery and villages then overnight at Nar village to store energy for the next long day’s walk to Ngawal.

Day08

Nar Village - Kangla Pass 5,306m to Ngawal 3,660M/ 8-9hours.

It is an adventure day for the whole trek as well as the highest pass of the trip Kangla Pass 5,306m. We should leave early in the morning 8-9hurs walk. Have a hot breakfast in the nearby village then make a packed lunch for the day trip.

We can see a small tea shop in Kangla Phedi but it is not regular so sometimes we can have hot tea there as well. Today we should walk a 1,200m ascent and 1,400m descent from Kangla top then overnight at Ngawal.

Rest and visit day in Ngawal village.

Day10

Ngawal - Pissang - Dukur Pokhari to Chame 2,670M/ 6-7hours.

On this day we walk down to the main Annapurna circuit trail then walk down to Chame overnight at the lodge.

Day11

Chame - Dharapani - Chamje to Besisahar 800M/ 7-8hours.

As per our trek itinerary, we catch a local jeep from Chame then drive back to Besisahar overnight at the guest house in Besi Sahar.

Day12

Besisahar to Kathmandu by local bus 6-7 hours.

Trip drive back to Kathmandu by deluxe bus to Kathmandu. We book anyone as per our client’s demand. And drop at the hotel in Kathmandu.
