Useful Info

Useful Information

Dear Trekkers Lover Namaste,
I have visited Kanchenjunga Trek on 10 March 2015 for 20 days tea house trek. So I would like to share my experience during the whole trip. First, there are three ways to start Kanchenjunga trek propriety as number wise

1, Kathmandu to Badrapur flight then drive to Nepali Tea Garden Ilam 50m by sky and 4-5hour by drive overnight sleep there and see the sunrise and visit nice tea garden then next day drive to Taplejung 5-6 hours drive. Note: You can drive from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur but it takes 16-17 hours drive.

2, Kathmandu to Suketar flight then you can start your Kanchenjunga trek but this airport has one flight a week and there is not regular as well as fixed schedule so it is the second option.

3, you start your trek from Basantapur then your trekking trail will join in Dovan.

If you are looking for Kanchenjunga trek you should compromise your food because of less touristy there is not variety food during the trek and food is quite good after Ghunsa but before Ghunsa you should have whatever they can cook in their tea house and we had mostly Dal Bhat for lunch and dinner and Noodle soup in breakfast time.

Lodges: very basic room in Kanchenjunga trek so do not expect luxuries trip in this area but they have come the on bathroom with bucket hot water if trekkers request them for the shower.

Teahouse Trek: There is normal tea house trek possible but I recommend you that do not forget to take tents because Lonak has very very basic dormitory room and if you go through sele la pass 42090m there is very small tea house it might open sometime not frequently so food and tents are needed.

Camping Trek:
If you like to do own your cam trip it is possible to do camping trek in Kanchenjunga from North to south and South to North.

Note: We did North base camp full tea house trek and we did not carry tents but we have some dry fruit and cookies and juice liquid.

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek reviews

Steve Cole
Kancehnjunga Base Cap Trek
Many times trek in Nepal, March 2015 we did 20 days Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek in estern border of Himalayas Nepal. it was gread trip with guide and porter, they are very frankly and helpful during whole 20 days trek in Kanchenjunga and we fly kathmandu to Jhap then drive to Taplejung then we start our trek with our team.
Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is less touristy trekking in Nepal along the tomor river valley and intire the Kanchenjung National Park, it is really nice people, culture and mountians but there is normal tea houses and food available there for trekkers.
So, if you prefer less touristic area trek, Kanchenjunga also nice for less tourist trekking route of Nepal.

One of the best treks in the world! I did it with a fantastic guide and porter! Few tourist, fabulous scenery and amazing. All the best Chandra.
